You can't call him stumpy...

… but you could call him Lefty. It would be ironic.

I’m sure he’ll be fine. That’s the thing with cats… and cockroaches… and Cher, they’re very resilient.

I'm pulling for a speedy recovery!

Spike is a tough guy, with a tough guy name. He’ll be fine in no time. I know he will!

My thoughts are with you all.

There are LOTS of sites out there for tripods if you need to find anyone else to talk to about it… I’ve seen tripod dogs run and play just as much as the 4-legged variety.

hooray for lopsided cat!

Monty was pretty loopy for quite some time after both his anesthesia and drugs. I hope Spike will recover just as well. I wonder if he has little phantom limb pain like human amputees do. Well, on the bright side, you won’t have trouble identifying him from other cats in the neighborhood. He’s now unique!

Update on Spike

We finally got him home around 7pm last night. We went to the pet store and bought a large dog-sized kennel to keep him in while he recovers from pain meds and anesthesia, but still have room to get up and move around.

He spent most of his night in there with Clio coming by to smell and hiss at him. Later, we pulled him out and I let him sleep on my lap for an hour before we put him back in there for bedtime.

He’s gone from wildly thrashing around and flopping to actually moving and has gone both up and down stairs. But after he has a fit and burst of moving he flops down and just sort of lays there. We’re not sure if it’s exhaustion or drugs or a combination of both, but he looks sort of sad when he’s lying there all flopped over…
